A Present For The Birds Too

One of my presents this morning was a new bird feeder and a sack of sunflower hearts!!

First job of the day was to fill it and hang it in the garden. Within five minutes it had already been visited by blue tits, great tits and coal tits. They only hesitated for a few seconds on a nearby bush before diving in!!

This is a super-duper squirrel/pigeon/rat proof feeder. The feeding ports are open by default so that the little birds can get at the seed. If anything larger or heavier tries to get on the perch, it slides down and closes the port so that they don’t get any seed….that is the theory at least…we shall see.

I sat in the house with the 300mm lens on the camera ..but even so, with the subject over 10 meters away, this is quite a severe crop of the full frame.

Getting my blip in early today as we will be off to our daughter’s later for our ‘Christmas Eve’ gathering and Christmas Day tomorrow :-)
