The vultures!
A change today from wine tasting!
Nyons market this morning, and then on to a tiny village in Drome called Remuzat.
I had read about the reintroduction of vultures in the area, and thought we would go and see them.
Started with a little lunch at the café. Wonderful thin based pizza and salad. The thinnest pizza ever and of course baked in a wood oven, with lovely charred edges.
While we were sat, we spied the first birds, soaring high above us. A wonderful sight. About 10 of them.
Hopeless trying to take a photo.
The best shot I got was the one on the left. If you look large you can just see a tiny speck near the tree branches
The other photo is of the Maison des Vautours in the village, where it tells you all about the reintroduction of the birds starting in 1996 of the Griffon Vulture, followed by the Egyptian Vulture, and in 2002 the black vulture.
Further information see here
We drove back over the high hills of the Barronnies. Miles of curves, sensational views, and no guardrails! ( Many thanks to MrC who was driving!)
All now having a rest!
