Red Clydesider
Apparently today is the Winter Solstice, having occurred at 03.27 when the tilt of Earth's axis was farthest from the sun, about the time I was reading Mayflies. I usually sleep rather well, last night was an aberration.
I was up early ready to receive the new washing machine which arrived just after 8. Almost as important the old one has been uplifted. One of the delivery chaps had also experienced a washing machine fire, how common is it I wonder?
I managed to get a last minute yoga place with Alison who took us through a wonderfully energising practice celebrating the beginning of winter followed a long relaxation/meditation where I was on the blissful cusp of falling asleep.
With effort I walked to the library to collect Enemies and Neighbours, an account of the Middle East conflict by Ian Black. Hardly holiday reading but important. The blip is the new stained glass window in the library celebrating John Maclean, the revolutionary socialist, 100 years after his death. I continued into the park looking for otters, they were elusive today and I had to make do with a brown rat.
