Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A rather damp walk out round the Meadows this morning. Well, it was OK when we went out, and when we were at our furtherest (is that a word?) away, it started to rain. But I was listening to an 'ABC Conversations' podcast with Sam Neil. I've read his book, but it's even nicer to hear him telling his amusing little anecdotes in his lovely voice. What a nice man he is.

This big old tree was chopped down years ago, and is in a picturesque state of decrepitude. It must be home to lots of wee beasties. I must say, I’m finding it a bit hard to find it when Archie does a poo on leaves. Must be my cataracts. I really have to bend down and scour the area I think it’s in… must look a bit odd, to any passers by. We didn't stop for coffee on the way home, because I was dragged past four cafes on the way.

I see there are terrible floods in Queensland, but not unsurprising at this time of year. We will be there in a matter of weeks... well, not exactly as far north as the worst flooding is.

Had another doggie walk in the afternoon. (6,657 steps).

PS Archie’s getting very wooly. A haircut is looming, when I’ve worked up to it…
