2023 Wednesday — Big Blip Day
This is a BIG day in the life of my Blipfoto journal. A lot of years, a whole bunch of months, and more days than I would have ever thought possible.
I started this because I was a professor, a writing instructor, at the local community college. I used to advise my students to write every single day because it would help them improve their writing ability. I tried to write every day as well, but you know, it was easier to tell them than to do it. But I tried to. What I needed was accountability.
It was Blipfoto that gave me that accountability and also gave me a wonderful community of fellow photographers and writers.
As far as I know, I haven’t missed a day and I started way back in January 2009 — 14 years ago. I have also added a few extra photos because Blipfoto gives us the privilege of filling in the pages all the way back to our birthdate.
My photo today is Mr. Fun who has walked along side me for all the pages of this journal. So this seemed apropos to use his photo. I came close to losing him a couple months ago. Thankfully the doctors have him on a healthier lifestyle. He has lost 40 pounds since midOctober. The elimination of weight, mainly fluid, has helped reduce the stress on his heart and on his kidneys.
I am immensely grateful to the good people at Blip Central who keep this organization running like a well oiled machine. I’m also very thankful to the few who give me an occasional comment. It’s like throwing a bone to the dog — your words are encouraging. Getting my page written each day is a victory, and every now and then I write something worth reading.
I’m thankful for Blipfoto. If you’ve read this far, I thankful. God bless all of you.
