Waiting
for the band at the start of our concert this evening in the magnificent United Reform Church in Saltaire.
Our Community Choir ‘All Together Now’ sang 8 Christmas numbers, the final one ‘Spirit of the Season’ from Polar Express, accompanied by the wonderful Otley brass Band.
They played their own pieces too one of which was a Yorkshire favourite of my dad, ‘Deep Harmony’ by Handel Parker. The last time I heard this was at his funeral so it was a bit poignant.
This concert, although put on in a different church in the past two years, is the highlight of the season for me, though singing at Hazelbeck special school tomorrow morning comes a near second.
Think Sir Titus (Salt - whose business was alpaca yarn hence the alpaca on the statue) enjoyed it too.
I heard from my son that the power outage on the Elizabeth Line that stranded us in Maidenhead last Thursday was on the National News. Turns out we were lucky to at least be stopped in a town, others, including James Blunt and Rachel Riley, were in another train on the line which was stopped in the middle of nowhere for three hours and eventually ran out of power from the internal generator for heat and light!
You can see me far right on Wilsden Walker’s blip here Thank you for coming S!
