Haslemere

I met friend J in Haslemere today. We intended having a walk but the bad weather was worsening so we spent a couple of hours in a nice cafe having lunch and a catch-up. It was a good decision as a short while later there was a thunderstorm!
Haslemere is a nice little town. Its first Royal Charter was granted by Richard II in 1397. A new charter was issued by Elizabeth I in 1596. Today this special status is celebrated with the Charter Fair held once every two years in the High Street.
The bust of Elizabeth I was installed in Charter Walk in 2001.
