Today and yesterday
Yesterday’s interview sure seemed to go well. I am cynical and suspicious so I’ll hold off until I see the story but three of my models have agreed to be interviewed by her. She is going to try to get the story out soon to help generate more pictures, stat, and then do another story closer to when the show begins.
I was so excited by the interview I nearly forgot my plans to go to Georgetown to see light exhibits. I remembered just in time and got there just in time. We saw a dead rat. This may not sound exciting but we had a woman who wigged out and another woman from South Dakota who felt that she had now had the proper, full Washington DC experience.
The picture from yesterday was of a sculpture with moving lights and the lit up Kennedy Center in the background.
This picture is from the Winter Lights at the Brookside Gardens. They always put on a good show. We lucked out massively with parking.
Also today - I went to Takoma Park to raise money for the show. I have money for printing and I have a donated venue. Now I need money for the Photo Booth and for catering and ideally to mail pictures back to subjects and photographers. I went to Takoma Park because it still has lots of signs from Pride which helps identify which businesses might be interested.
It was interesting timing. Just this morning one of the restaurants had a drag queen book reading scheduled - and received a bomb threat that cancelled it.
A bomb threat.
I stopped by and said when they reschedule it I will put it on my website.
So you know, Takoma Park is an extremely liberal area and is sometimes mockingly called the Republic of Takoma Park.
Some of our new neighbors held an impromptu gathering. They dragged out a fire pit and apple cider and graham crackers and marshmallows and even some chocolate. For the first time in my life I had s’mores. I’ve wondered what they were like. They always sounded divine. They weren’t nearly as heavenly as they always sounded but that is another item checked off my bucket list. I assumed the chocolate would melt too.
One of the reasons why Ukraine has an advantage over Russia is that Russia forced Ukrainians to learn and use Russian. Ukrainians can get around in Russia, deep into Russia, and not be recognized by their accent.
Remember when Russia was claiming that Ukraine was using witchcraft to fight it? Ukraine has a drone they call vampires. Russians are calling them Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga is a scary old woman who fries and eats children, which indicates that the Russians are scared of this drone. I think they should take their fear and go home. The Vampire drone is fast, hard to spot, and, operates at night with thermal imaging.
Ukraine released a video of it scoring a direct hit on one of Russia’s most advanced and expensive missile systems.
