Rock and Roll!
Just in from another fabulous Rock and Roll pantomime at the City Varieties in Leeds. Amazing talent and fun as always.
( They all act, sing, dance and play at least one instrument and are at the rear of the stage playing when not up front performing)
The culmination of a full on day.
Started by prepping a casserole to take with us to Bath tomorrow and then did some ironing prior to packing.
A walk up the village to Pilates and then just an hour to get a quick lunch and get changed to go back to the Congregational Church to sing as part of a Nativity performance for the children from our village primary school. We had the youngest classes this afternoon and they loved the pantomime style of it.
Two more groups tomorrow but I won’t be able to do them.
A bit of respite before getting the bus to Bingley and the train in to Leeds. (Picked up a couple of books in the station waiting room whilst I was there.)
We went straight to the White Swan which is a pub next to/ part of the old theatre. If you have theatre tickets you get a 10% discount on food. The City Varieties is perhaps best known for The Good Old Days which was on TV in the UK. Anybody remember that? People dressed up in Edwardian costume to attend. There was a poster in the pub which showed some rather less salubrious acts from the ‘old days’ at the theatre.
Paul Raymond ‘Paris after dark - Latin quarter review’, is the headline!
We got wetter than ever this year but it’s all part of the fun. I will shortly get an e mail inviting me to buy tickets for next year’s even though they won’t know what it’s going to be yet (this year was Robin Hood) and I will definitely be booking!
The blip is taken during the reprise where you are encouraged to take pictures or videos for social media so I wasn’t being naughty!
