Seriously?

Teaching is the greatest act of optimism.
– Colleen Wilcox (Superintendent of Schools in San Francisco in the 1970s)

This morning I went with Abdullah to the villa in Akbuk to see the progress with the kitchen and talk about other projects. Today's photo is another pic of the view from the roof terrace.

I learned this evening that friend and colleague from Istanbul,  Cyrus Carter, passed away today, no longer able to fight the cancer that has robbed him of any retirement after a life of giving, his has now been taken.

Caitlin and I had a 90 min video call to talk and share.

Sometimes Blipper (Educarter) and other social media platforms, this lifelong learner and profoundly dedicated educator, who always looked on the brighter side, even during his treatment - he was ever the optimist about what young people could achieve.  After so many years teaching in Istanbul there will be literally thousands of people - students and colleagues - who mourn this gentle, kind and ever helpful man, and I am one.
