It's an Ill Wind

Or so they see. And this kite surfer certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. Too wet to go out for my daily walk so I blipped from our bedroom window. But, it being Monday night, I headed out to play football in it as usual. It has been wet the past two Mondays but that was without the wind, driving the rain across the pitch. The woman on the High School sports reception desk said 'good luck' on my way out and it didn't look very promising. And yet. Seven-a-side and I started teeing I up for a tap-n for our first goal. The other lot quickly equalised but I then scored to put us ahead again. I made the crucial pass from midfield to set J away and D tapped in our third. They pulled one back again and then I nutmegged the last defender and put the ball past the keeper to put us 4-2 up. We never looked back from that, creating lots of chances with some neat passing play. We scored a couple more and they scored one before I got my hat-trick goal to put us 7-3 up. They scored once more but we finished in complete control, running out 11-4 winners. A great game, amongst the best I've played all year and part of a team playing some great football. Maybe when I was a bit younger and fitter I'd have scored a few more but I shouldn't quibble after such a good game, and in my sixties too. Perhaps I need to play in the rain every week?
