Getting Away From It All
When my children were young, we did a lot of backpacking in the mountains and forests of Washington. My favorite place was the Pasayten Wilderness, where we could hike for days with hardly any encounters with people, and we never had to share a campsite. It might be a little more crowded now -- we were there about 35 years ago.
I kept a journal on trips, recording events of the day; reminders for equipment repair, modification, and additions; evaluations of meals; distances hiked, etc. Reading the journals brings back happy memories, and they're helpful in identifying the many photos I took.
