The Early Bath

No more snow overnight, but the layer from yesterday had not thawed, and there was still some icy patches on the roads. When I fed the birds this morning, they wasted no time arriving to take advantage, and we even had another visit from the pheasant. Starling numbers have been modest recently, but they have been taking advantage of the fresh water in the bird bath and bathing happily. This one looked resplendent in the winter sunshine atop the the hedge.
