Between fen and mountains

The dolmen

We walked up above Bouleternère to the dolmen. It was a rocky but pleasant walk, 11 kilometres with around 500 metres of ascent. We were lucky enough to see an eagle gliding close above our heads and several vultures. On the top stone of the dolmen there were several cupules. I have seen a few in the area carved onto rocks. They go back many thousands of years and no one is quite sure of their purpose, possibly rock art or with some religious or sacrificial significance.
A couple of friends came back to ours afterwards for a cup of tea and to see if I could make sense of their electricity bill.
