Strange Stillness

Diffused light shining,
Through a veil of heavy air.
A strange stillness.

Very strange light this morning ... the air was heavy and grey and yet it was quite warm. It felt like we were about to have a summer storm.... but it somehow never materialised. We are promised very hot weather over the next few days .... do you think I can finally put away my thick winter woollies?

This sky made me think of this painting by Turner ... one of my favourites of his.

And of course it made me think of this fabulous track by John Martyn. The transition from awkward clown to supreme artist is mesmerising. Sadly missed.
