Cheeky squirrel

Today mum and I went down the town. She hadn't been out on her mobility scooter for quite a while, what with a combination of illness and bad weather there hasn't been the opportunity. Today was cold but bright and sunny and we needed provisions for her birthday tomorrow. We bought all we needed and then came back through the park to avoid all the obstacles along the road where many of the paths are impassable. The utilities have have had much of the pavement dug up for the last six months making it very difficult for pedestrians having to cross the fairly busy road from one side to another, very awkward for mum.
The squirrel ran out in front of mum and then came alongside her and looked up obviously expecting some morsel. When it realised we didn't have any as mum moved on, it hopped onto the branch and just sat. It was obviously waiting for the next passerby in the hope they may have something more than we did!
Mum was tired after her outing. Although she enjoyed it, I think having to concentrate on what she needs to do while driving the scooter and manoeuvring people and obstacles is probably becoming all too much. I don't think she'll do many more trips into the town, especially on her own. She's still using it to get around the building where she lives which means she can get out of her flat and socialise.
Extra photo also taken from the little bridge over the water on the way home from town.
