Rolls Royce Trent XWB

One of the two huge RR turbo fans that powered us safely and swiftly across 5,800 miles from San Diego to Heathrow. A smooth flight. We managed about 4 hours of sleep out of the 10 hour journey.

It’s only when you get up close do you appreciate their size - as large as the fuselage of many smaller jets.

We came to a rest at an apron stand meaning we were bussed to the terminal where we had to wait an age for our luggage. Fortunately, the M25 played ball and we were home by 3.0”pm.

After unpacking, tea and a shower we walked to and from the supermarket for essential supplies. Valiantly trying to stay awake until 10.00pm.
