Royal Lancaster Infirmary

I had a meeting at school, this morning, but beforehand I popped 'round to the GPs who said they'd ring Dan later on.

When I got back home, Dan was up and showered, and, having spoken to the GP, was ready to set off to the Emergency Department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary with suspected quinsy (aka a Peritonsillar Abscess).

He was no better, this morning, although a little more able to communicate, and it occurred to me that they might keep him in, so I got him to pack an overnight back, and then we set off.

We had a long wait in ED, although when I popped out for a work call (and took today's Blip of Lancaster Canal), he was moved up to the Minor Treatment Unit, where they drained his tonsils. Dan reported it was both painful and gross (four syringes full of blood and pus).

After that we were back down to ED, where we were put into a holding area, which Dan was given intravenous doses of paracetamol, and then antibiotics. Already the difference in him was amazing.

Some time later, we were taken up to a ward and, while Dan settled in, I popped home to pick up some headphones for him, getting back for visiting hour, by which time Dan had eaten sausage, chips, and beans, and was looking much recovered.

God bless the NHS. And fuck the Tories.
