horns of wilmington's cow

Despite only being 25-30 minutes away, I've never been up to, or up, the Wallace Monument outside Stirling. So that was rectified today, and the view was stunning (the photo in the extras doesn't do it justice, and the 360 degree pano I stitched together is way too big to upload here).

The rooms on the way up are a little.... contrived. But to be honest it's fair enough that it's very touristy - heck, when the Victorians built it, it will have been a big tourist draw, so shortbread all round!

We took a little spin into Stirling after, mainly to get some gin from the distillery below the castle, but wandered up to the Esplanade there as well, before picking up a new old bike I won in a local auction over the weekend for the princely sum of £50. It's a lot of very good, very well-cared for, bike for the money, and I have plans!

Then day 2 of the 3 day croissant recipe from the Aran Bakery Book (by Flora Sheddon off of that Great British Bake Off) to see if the first time when they worked really well was a fluke or not (they're now formed, and in the fridge for the night, before proving and baking in the morning for breakfast); and some writing. I've hit a little creative upswing, and seeing if an idea I've had will work.

Oh, and the V5 for the Tractor finally arrived (I suspect the person who sold it to me completely forgot about it), which means I can technically now drive it on the road! I'll need to get a lovely old numberplate made up for it, but will be looking out to see if there are any road runs I can take part in next year once I've done a little light restoring over winter!

Busy busy busy. Always feels better when that's the case (when I actually want to be busy).
