Geneva
The first (of 3 planned) destinations for our holiday is Geneva. We chose trains as the means of transport for this holiday and the first stage took us right across Switzerland, from Lake Constance in the east to Lake Geneva in the west. Our intention today was to enjoy the train trip from the restaurant car. Unfortunately, it was closed today. So we decided to make a stopover in Neuchâtel for lunch and then travelled on to Geneva where we arrived late afternoon.
My boss grew up in Geneva and recommended that we climb the cathedral tower and enjoy the view. Et voilà, today's blip.
Although I've been to Geneva a few times, never really as a tourist. And what a difference it makes. We had a nice start in the city, see extras:
- the longest bench in the world
- the famous jet d'eau
- the Christmas market
- Geneva Mouettes, the yellow/red shuttle boats.
One last thing and a big surprise:
When I went to lock some of our valuables in the room safe, I found a ring jewellery in there, lavishly set with diamonds and looking very expensive. We handed it in, of course, and the lady at reception could hardly believe it.
