Sea, Sand and Seaweed

The tide was favourable for a morning dog walk on the sand at Hayling Island. So off we went.

It was raining and overcast at first but gradually the weather dried up and the sky began to clear. On the horizon out at sea, a bright yellow light filled the sky. Nearer to us rays of sun were visible streaming down between breaks in the clouds and lightning up the breaking crests of the waves. A lone wind surfer had the water to him/herself.

There were plenty of dogs for Merlin to interact with, as well as pieces of seaweed for him to delight in tossing around and eating. A group of horses passed us by no doubt hoping to canter along the sand spit.

It was invigorating to be out and the effects of the light were especially beautiful today. We returned home for hot tea, homemade leek and potato soup, and the log burning stove.

Here’s Merlin on the beach having returned to Andy on a recall.

Grateful:
- The fascinating and beautiful light at the coast this morning.
- To see Merlin run and run on the sand and in the water, just for the joy of it.
- To have time to spend a gentle and peaceful hour at the allotment just enjoying being there without the feeling of a need to do anything in particular.
