It started here...
Just outside the campsite in Hayfield is a plaque on the wall of a quarry commemorating the start of the Kinder Mass Tresspass in April 1932 where about 400 ramblers set off to climb Kinder Scout, after they had been banned from the moorland. It ultimately led to the Right to Roam, and inspired the creation of the National Parks and liong distance trails such as the Pennine Way. You can learn more here
