Hiking friends

What a day. I like these people and wanted to share a hike with them so today we set out to hike 5 miles on the Hub City Connector of the Palmetto Trail. This walk runs through the middle of downtown Spartanburg where we mostly walk on sidewalks. Next to four lanes of 55 mile per hour traffic.

It was stressful! I did not really enjoy this at all and neither did the others. We are going to suggest the Palmetto Conservation Foundation eliminate this from the trail system and find an alternate way to connect two portions of the trail that are in the forest. It was not marked at all and several streets we walked were not in the best part of the town.

I have a headache and so did two others. But as the reason for this hike was to add this portion to what they have already hiked toward completing the 500+ miles of the Palmetto Trail. They were really happy to get this section completed.

I might think twice and check the maps better before hiking with them next time.
