World Champions!

The ball is a blur going over the net as the incredible Leylah Annie Fernandez hits the match and championship point to give Canada its first ever world tennis team championship, the Billie Jean King Cup. Then she reacts ecstatically to her team’s accomplishment.

The first match of the day was won by unknown (even in Canada) 18 year old Marina Stakusic, to set up Fernandez’ heroics.

Canada, which has never been considered a tennis power, now holds both the Davis Cup, the men’s world championship, and the BJK Cup.
