plan B!

Today's plan was easy. The carpet cleaners would arrive at 9am. I'd see them started then leave them with Colin while I went to church where I had a couple of duties. Easy
Then I got a text sent at 6 am by the carpet cleaner to say her young son had been rushed to hospital overnight and she was still with him so had to cancel us! I understood, of course I did. But most of our furniture is stacked in the sitting room, the dining table and sideboard are on their sides in the kitchen with no room to move around them..... I went to church.

When I got back we dug out a couple of armchairs and put them in the lounge. Moved the dining table and sideboard back to the dining room and decided we would cope until she came on Thursday . Hopefully her son will be ok and home by then and able to be left with somebody else if not fit for school, but children bounce back so hopefully all will be well.
I decided to use the time to make my Christmas cake. I had bought ready soaked fruit so left it for a few hours soaking in some additional brandy in case it wasn't soaked enough! then got stuck in. I always add extra fruit and cherries and nuts, so decided my quantity would likely be enough for an additional small cake. They look good, so at last I can tick something off my list.
