A visit to the Horniman Museum and Garden

A trip by coach to Forest Hill in south London to this museum which was new to us.

Frederick Horniman, 1835 - 1906, was a tea trader, a politician and founder of the Horniman Museum. He left the museum and the surrounding extensive gardens to the people of London. It opened as a free museum and is still free, some 122 years later.

There are a wide range of displays, nature, music, and wonders from around the world. Very popular, even on this cool November day. Well worth the time.

The blip is the conservatory viewed from the main museum building. The conservatory was moved from Horniman's garden and re-erected on the museum site. It is immaculate having been refurbished in 2022. It is now an overflow shelter for cafe customers in adverse weather and is often hired out as a wedding venue.
