WHAT?
I'm thinking that there is nothing here that a mani-pedi and a couple of days at a spa and maybe a few less calories can't fix, right?
So, no, we don't have Prairie Dogs in New Jersey ... well, at least not in the wild (darn it!) But there is a small dog-town at the Space Farms Zoo which is where hubs and I went this morning. It is a small family run zoo that has been around for 85 years - can't believe that this is the first time I've ever been there! The weather was perfect and we had a good wander around the rolling acres of the zoo before stopping at a favorite farm for lunch. Brought home some fresh picked asparagus to go with our grilled steaks tonight - yum!
If you'd like to see some other fun shots from the zoo this morning, as well as some mud-puddling cabbage white butterflies, I've posted 13 shots on Flickr, starting HERE. Spoiler alert - there is a disgustingly cute shot of two little domestic ducklings. You've been warned.
When we went out on the deck this morning to have breakfast, Papa Wren was still in hot pursuit of the interloper, leaving Mama to feed the nestlings. However, by the time we got home this afternoon, things seem to have settled down and we saw both Mama and Papa feeding the babies. Hopefully the pesky bachelor wren will find another yard to terrorize. Meanwhile, hummingbird wars are shifting into full throttle with the tiny things hurtling through the garden, deck and patio with little regard to human life. (BikerBear, you've been warned!)
Hope everyone is having a good weekend - be back later!
