“Standing with Giants” at Hampton Court
This is an art installation that has been at Hampton Court for the last two years around Remembrance Day and before that at Blenheim Palace.
It is designed to share the lesser known stories of Indian soldiers who fought alongside British soldiers in WW1 and WW2. In the Palace there is also a special exhibition with photos of the times when Indians were camped in the grounds at Hampton Court on several occasions during Victorias reign and several occasions afterwards when they were in London for special celebrations and parades. There is also video and memories from descendants of some of the Indians who camped at Hampton Court.
It was really raining when we were there…..we were the only people outside! There were lots of school parties inside including many excited children in the kitchens!
We tried out the new cafe by Lion Gate the entrance into Bushy Park. It was very nice and we will probably visit again as dogs are welcome too!
Later we picked up the grandchildren from school and took them to the local library. A very impressive selection of both fiction and non-fiction for children which I have not looked at for many years!
