From a railway carriage
Having so enjoyed the second half of the Water of Leith I set out this morning, a spur of the moment thing, to walk the first half from Balerno to Slateford. It was glorious, quiet and secluded, no tourists just a few cyclists and cheery dog walkers. One of the many highlights was the Colinton Tunnel with its magnificent murals inspired by the Robert Louis Stevenson poem, “From a Railway Carriage”.
Although I was back in Princes Street by 2pm I think the whole trail is bit too long to complete at a leisurely pace during the winter. In the summer it would be quite wonderful.
