Zambian drum

This is a drum we bought from a stall very near Victoria Falls in Zambia when we stayed there a long time ago. We stayed at the Victoria Palace Hotel which was, and I’m sure still is, very luxurious with more staff than guests. Out of curiosity I looked up the price to stay there on Booking.com it is now £700 per night! No way we would pay that now…we did a three centre tour in a small group organised by Saga which was very reasonable and enjoyable. ( we recommended the tour to friends but Saga did not continue it the next year…maybe they did not make enough profit!)   The reason for this photo is because I took it over to the grandchildren as they had had a drum workshop today and so thought they would be interested…they had a go at playing what they had been taught! I was also impressed that they knew where Zambia was…..they have a very good globe.

Earlier in the day I went to Pilates, then coffee with that grouo, then a shortish bike ride with four different friends via Hampton Court where we stopped at a new cafe for some food.

So a nice busy day and good to see some sun and blue skies.
