The birthday trip

It's taken a while for me to be able to take my birthday microlight flight but it was worth the wait.

The day started, after the call confirming the flight,  with a bit of a lie in (I was awake during the night finishing my book) then did some work on a grant application before hopping over the hedge to Y's.  We actually sat outside and put the world to rights - Middle East, BLM, Whatsapp government, women's place in the world, the prison system and homeless as a 'lifestyle choice'.  Oh there are so many things wrong these days.

Then down to East Fortune to get the briefing and then garbed up in flying suit, gloves and helmet. It was a perfect day, no wind, blue skies and sun.  We flew up to Edinburgh, right across the top of the house, then across the town via St Andrew's House to Portobello, down the coast to North Berwick and Tyninghame.  If was fabulous and well worth waiting for.  No photos during the flight (too dangerous for the phone and difficult with ski gloves on) but I've bought the video.  It was a perfect birthday present and a perfect afternoon.

Home by Straiton to top up the fridge and larder.  A quiet in now though there will be some more fireworks I expect.
