High Spy & Maiden Moor

And much, much more to the day than two hills! For starters, we’ve had a lucky weather day and views upon views of attractive clouds above mountains, occasional dappled sunlight and the odd shower passing by but missing us.

The walk up to Nitting Haws was varied, weaving up and around pretty Lakeland knolls with views over autumn trees. Admittedly, the final kilometre was a bit of a pull but a steady pace had us on the ridge and turning left for High Spy, with an easy stroll to the top. We spent plenty of time admiring views and taking pics and the rest of the time chatting away.

Maiden Moor was still on the cards fitness and joint-wise so we carried on with beautiful low light off on the Sail and Causey Pike side and ahead towards Blencathra and Skiddaw.

We dropped off the tops and down to the staircase path before Catbells, kept our knees going and finally enjoyed the feeling of nearing hotel cosiness. A few hours chilling out was now on the cards before meeting up for dinner.

Dinner! Fabulous food which we took lots of time over whilst mulling over the day and putting the world to rights.

A wonderful day all round.
