At home: my tribe...
I love painting. I love the fact that tribal groups use paint far more lavishly than westerners. We have conventionalised paint into 'makeup'. I would use paint like this every day. I would love to use it as an expression of the day, fun, life, colour, whatever....
We dug out our paints for the tipi field at Glasto. It's the only time that we all wear decorative paint. Where your expression as a family can be seen on the outside and the in. Where its an accepted form of communication. Native tribes, aboriginals are a prime example communicate with the colours taken from the earth. They celebrate the earth by wearing the colours it makes.
Ayers Rock is a perfect example, glowing red, illuminated by the sunset into a breathtaking show of colour. The people whom lived at its feet wore her soil, the glowing red rubbed into their skin, rubbed into their paintings. They communicated with it, told stories, past on her magic to their children. Colour is a powerful communicator, its lovely to have the chance to drop convention and wear it with pride.
Be breath taking, wear colour and celebrate life.....x
