Sunny view from work (Day 3094)
Off to the wilds of Twatt this morning to make a start on another bathroom re-fit. Getting the old shower enclosure out took longer than expected because the previous installer had chewed the heads off all of the screws. With it finally out of the way I set about peeling the lino off the walls. It is something I have only ever come across here, and have never liked. It takes ages to remove so that the underlying plywood can be unscrewed and removed.
The shower tray didn't want to come out so I beat it to death with a large hammer. The floor had been tiled, and the plan was to cover it with lino, but the tiles were cut round the base off the WC, the pedestal for the basin and the shower tray. I set about smashing the tiles up and discovered an old flagstone floor below them. It is in pretty good condition and, if the bathroom was mine, I would be restoring the flagstones. I await a decision from the customer as to whether or not the flags will be left uncovered. I really don't want to pour a screed over them, but it isn't my bathroom.
I await the return of my beautiful wife from epic battles with Shetland ponies
*Edit - extra added of the flagstones I uncovered.
