Between fen and mountains

Worth a picture

I did not do a lot this morning. Yesterday's journey to Paris was a bit of a nightmare. We waited for the bus for 20 minutes before deciding it was not going to come. We then found out that the buses were on strike. No answer from a friend who had volunteered a lift to Perpignan. Another friend was up the mountain. Eventually, I managed to contact first friend who very kindly took us the 50 kms to the station. The train was fortunately not one of the 7 out of 10 inter city trains cancelled that day but it was an hour late setting off. The six hours in the train were made somewhat miserable by three drunken yobs who played their music loudly, swore and were generally uncouth right through the journey. This was despite several passengers and a ticket inspector telling them to shut up. I remonstrated as well but gave up when they got menacing and aggressive.

This afternoon we decided to have a trip out to royal chateau of Fontainebleu. We enjoyed a pleasant walk in the le Notre formal gardens and then the more romantic English garden more in the style of Capability Brown.
