Stockholm on the Table

Our Swedish relatives brought us this Josef Frank fabric years ago when they visited Seattle, and I made it into a tablecloth.  Josef Frank was a Jewish Austrian architect who became a Swedish citizen in the 1930s and designed many very attractive household items for the Svenskt Tenn.
I’ve used this many many times, but last night at our birthday event, Oskar and Eric, having just been to Stockholm last summer, began to really look at it for the first time…" Slattsbacken "+ Castle Slope.    Oskar exclaiming…”I know these streets…we were right here..Here’s the palace and this is where Ragnar’s office was.” (bottom right.   Ragnar was my Mom’s cousin, architect to the king, with an office in the castle.   we’ve kept up with his wonderful family. His granddaughter was an au pair for a friend of mine and was here for Eric and Anne's wedding in 1998)   )    I tried to find the fabric online without success….maybe too old?  but there is a very similar one in color of Manhattan.    You can look on the link above under fabrics... They gave us a tray too.  I love the fabric designs.  (maybe more than William Morris) 

And then of course, the golf cart, put together.  It’s great it’s not for golf, but for ”camping” and maintenance /work , just like all those we saw last week at the resort in Parksville with cleaning supplies .   The same thoughtful dil gave H the “mallomars"…from a discussion they had this summer about these cookies we remember having as kids and wondered do they still make them?   Apparently they do!

We are almost recovered after a quiet day  (just a walk outside...)  today.  Appreciate being able to get together like yesterday.  Thanks for the birthday wishes.
