Nordic stillness

Helsinki airport is very quiet at 10pm. We have another 3 hours to wait for our Finnair flight to Singapore. I hear you saying why on earth fly from Rome to Singapore via Helsinki? Which is a very good question with many answers, including:

. it made sense on the flight to Europe, when we flew into Helsinki and continued on to nearby Oslo,

.we’ve flown Finnair before and enjoyed the experience,

. Helsinki is, in our experience, the easiest place for European border control procedures - at passport control just now we walked straight up to the counter and were processed in seconds.

In Singapore we have a fairly quick 90 minute connection to Qantas - a night flight arriving in Brisbane soon after sunrise.
