The view as we walked up The Old Man of Coniston.
Lovely Autumn colours as we walked up The Old Man of Coniston today ( the highest mountain near the village of Coniston ).
Coniston Slate has been mined for hundreds of years…in the ‘extra’ photo you can see Ros in one of the quarries quite near the top of The Old Man.
‘ Old Man’ is a corruption of the ancient Celtic ‘Alt Maen’ meaning ‘ high stone.’
