Heeeeeeerrrre's Hallett (and Loch Vale)
This view, of Hallett Peak looming over Loch Vale, is one of my favorites. (Hallett is somewhat to the right and is covered still with some snow.)
Today the snowpack goes right up to the water. Trail signs, usually as high as my shoulder, poke out of the snow about six inches, about level with my ankles. Look for the snow cracking apart of the left side of the Loch.
I summited Hallett 15 years ago, and I hope to go there again later this summer. Wait 'till you see the view from the top!
In case you're wondering if I go up the side you see, I don't. To summit Hallett (elevation 12,500) the easy way, you sneak around behind it, walking past the Tyndall Glacier, that first high snowy patch.
