When in Rome

Very early start for us this morning (and rushed as Mr P didn’t set the alarm properly!) but we were rewarded with an almost deserted Vatican City. Father Tony said Mass in St Columba’s Chapel and then we explored St Peter’s and walked along the Tiber, my cousin Kathy had an interesting encounter with a couple of gladiators on the Sant’ Angelo bridge! In the afternoon we visited the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel (exhausting and incredibly busy) and then we enjoyed much more relaxed visits to the Catacombs (fascinating) and the Papal Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls where Father Tony was ordained.
In the evening we went to another local restaurant and consumed more delicious Italian food and wine.
