Yes It’s A Tree!

For our weekly walk this week we took ourselves down to the RBGE at Dawyck just down the road from Broughton and along from Stobo. It was my first time walking about the trees in the 65 acre estate. The trees are from this wee example of a Cornus Alterfolia from the East coast of the USA through various Asian trees, Rhododendrons and Acers and back to some giants of the West Coast of the States Giant Sierra Redwoods (170 years old, grown from seeds brought back in 1850’s ) and large Douglas firs from the same period.
The extra is just the sun peeping out through the branches.

I think we’ll be back in a couple of weeks but only if the sun out and the colours are as strong.
