Shadows and Light
Day 13
This lovely house was built around 40 years ago but feels very modern. Half the roof is of glass and there are some great displays of light and shadows!
Our first full day in Lanheses and we start with a walk around the area where Lis and Paco have their house. We check out the old road, now a green path, but also part of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago.
Many new flowers and plants in this so verdant land. Some plants we grow indoors in Sweden are also here, but ten times bigger!
Lunch in a cafe and then off to Ponte de Lima where we admire, and cross, the bridge built in Roman and then medieval times (also part of the Camino).
In the evening Paco arrives in time for dinner.
Jan and I walk the few hundred metres to the river and arrive as it gets dark. I swim anyway, the water is 21C and rather still. A very slight saltiness reveals the tidal nature of the river, and I guess it’s high tide. The younger generation have walked 8 kms to a nature reserve and are sleeping in a bird hide tonight. So it’s just us 4 veteran teachers round the table.
