Wild
Another early early start to pack everything in. We canoed at dawn, with crocodiles in the water and on the shore and with no safety briefing or warnings :-))
But it was so quiet and peaceful and beautiful. And the crocs were dozey which was a relief.
Then a trek through forest, looking out for wildlife and evidence of what might be around … it was a calm time although there were a few in our group who were obsessed with leeches which made the rest of us stay on a leech alert. We visited an elephant breeding and training camp too. None of us or our guides were supporters of elephant rides which we felt was a good thing although they were going on in the area.
Back for lunch, a quick dip in a warm empty outdoor pool and then off for a jeep safari - we saw buffalo, 2 types of crocodiles, 3 types of deer, lots of elephants, monkeys, peacocks and hens, and the ultimate, a rhino. We had spotted rhino poo and rhino footsteps but we weren’t confident of seeing one - but we did. He was a long way away but a feast for the eyes. We didn’t see a tiger but we knew they were nearby.
Back via some epic scenery and home for food, and an early’ish night as we have a pre dawn get up again. These are getting to be a habit :-)))) but we are definitely making the most use of the days.
