Cochabamba!
We braved the night bus leaving at 11pm on Saturday to catch up some others in cochabamba for the weekend. We arrived at 6am and went straight to a hostel that is a bit out of town, next to a HUGE american international school of Cochabmaba - weirdly. We were luckily welcomed in despite it being so early, and tucked into breakfast after a quick shower and meeting our friends.
Cochabamba was much warmer than La Paz, so we decided to make the most of it by getting the touristing out of the way first before coming back to the hostals pool and hammocks for some sunbathing later on. Just before we left the hostal owner mentioned that he was cooking a BBQ for all at lunch if we were keen - yum!
We went to see the statue of christ, the biggest in the world - a whole 44 cm (or something small) taller than the much more famous statue of christ in Rio! We went up in a great little cable car, and even got to climb inside the giant statue for an even better view of the city.
Walking back for our bus Frankie, one of the girls on the project, tripped over quite spectacularly over a curb, and ended up badly twisting her ankle.. oops. Ice bags and sitting on the street didn't seem to help, so we ventured to the luckily nearby hospital to get it checked out. Luckily BBQ meat was saved for us when we returned a few hours later - luckily with just some strained ligaments and no fracture!
We ate lots off BBQ and chilled in the garden until sunset, when a storm swept in and cut the power to most of the city! We knuckled down in the great hostal with a movie and dinner, very relaxed!
