You are our sunshine…
The alternative title to this was “drool” but I prefer what I have written.
We were on grandparental duty on Saturday as the parents were at a wedding. He survived into the wee sma’ hours when this was taken.
Our plans for the day - to visit our daughter’s godmother near Stockport - and for my wife and I to stay overnight with them had to be abandoned. The godmother had been very unwell since returning on Friday and wisely decided that we cancel the visit.
So what had been a planned 4 hour drive for us turned into a much longer one as we returned home. 435 miles over 9 and a half hours.
An hour of that was stationary on the M40 as, about a mile ahead of us, there had been a horrible crash. We could see the black smoke rising and, when we eventually moved, we passed the burnt out wreckage of a car. We do not know how hurt anyone was but clearly the inferno had been intense.
What surprised me as we were waiting was the number of people who got out of their cars to walk forward to see what was happening. Some of them seemed to go 20-30 car lengths ahead: adults and children. Apart from the issue of getting back to their cars once the traffic began moving again, there were still motorbikes weaving their way at some speed up the lanes. Some people!
