Fishing

I have never seriously been into fishing, but it can be a great way to enjoy peace and solitude down by the river.
We were having our sandwiches sat on a bench across the other side of the River Nidd when we kept hearing this chap talking. I thought he was just talking to himself until I realised that he was actually engaged in a lengthy conversation on his phone which was on the ground beside him just out of view. So much for peaceful isolation!

Just a few yards further along the river is the old Scotton flax mill which is now a private residence. There used to be a weir there which was breached about six years ago. The remainder of weir was in danger of collapse and was removed last autumn. Today's extra shows the weir as it was in June 2022 and below that as it looks today.
