Uluru
So far on our trip we have had 5 flights. Two have been good. One involved a lot of turbulence with lights on and 3 announcements in the night to tell you to get your seat belt on. The last TWO have been aborted landings! Today's was one of them, and there were very nervous travellers by the time we landed.
However, the colour of the red dust and the enormity of Uluru make up for everything. What an incredible sight. We drove to the sunset area, the sunrise area, and the cultural village. There's more to explore in the coming few days, too.
The Ayers Rock resort is purpose built to house tourists. It feels a bit like Butlins of the Northern Territories! The staff have been so welcoming and cheerful. It's lovely.
This area has a strange half-hour time zone, so we have gone from being 10 hours ahead of the UK in Sydney to 8 and a half here. Quite bizarre.
