Delicious breakfast at the hotel, then various meetings, followed by a tour of the Supreme Court of Georgia then a hurried but enjoyable lunch on the Terrace Cafe at the Radisson Blu enjoying spectacular views of the river and Tblisi. After lunch, we were treated to a guided tour of the Public Service Hall in Tblisi which is a spectacular building and a great resource. Basically the concept is that the majority of public services are provided quickly and efficiently under the same roof. The idea is simple but brilliant, and is a facility to be envied. If, for example, you want to get married, you can register for marriage, order your new passport and driving licence in your married name, and get the title deeds for your new home all at the same time. You can also enjoy a tasty and healthy snack or meal in the cafe while you wait for your documents to be printed. There is a little creche facility in the middle so that children brought along can be left safely while Mum or Dad attends to the business. I was most impressed!
In the evening we were lucky enough to be invited to the Queen's Birthday Party which was being held in the Radisson Blu. As this is the 60 year anniversary of the Coronation, video footage of that event formed the backdrop of the celebrations. The Band of H.M Royal Marines Portsmouth (The Royal Band) had been flown in to entertain the guests, and this lovely lady was their lead vocalist. The event was a big success, with canapes following a British theme... fish and chips in a paper cone, mini Cornish pasties etc., all washed down with Pims cocktails or your choice of wine or beer...
After the party headed for dinner at a local restaurant with live music and great dancers. Another lovely day in Tblisi...
