Wildlife

It wasn't a great day for wildlife photography. With howling winds and torrential rain for much of the day our guide had a job on his hands trying to find our target species. He did very well, we saw common seal, otter, white-tailed eagle, red and fallow deer and many other species. Golden eagle weren't seen but they're notorious for not going out on rainy days. Trouble was we weren't able to get great views of some of these. Otter in particular were difficult and we only got distant views. You'd have thought that their waterproof nature would have meant they'd have been easier on such a day.

My main blip is of a curlew which I cane see easily at home but I liked the image of him standing on one leg with the turbulent waves behind. The second extra is of a white -tailed eagle being mobbed by hooded crows. The third is a group of red deer and finally a heavily cropped white-tailed eagle in flight.

I had a call this evening from someone in the village who told me they'd had a beautiful day with temperatures of 20 degrees. Hrrumph!
