Having your cake and eating it.....
A hectic Monday morning.
Brought some cows and calves in to tag the calves. There were 2 sets of twins,so lifted one of each set and took them next door as wee brother was needing them to set on to 2 heifers that had dead calves yesterday. One had calved during the night but the calf was dead. The other had to be calved last night,but it was dead too.
So they both got a skin on them and met their new mums. Hopefully it will be love at first sight.
This 28 ton load of high Mg cow rolls ( or cow cake) arrived in before lunch time. That will hopefully last into December. The lorry was hardly out the road end before the invoice was emailed to me. £10,200, just like that. And we usually need 3 loads during the winter.
After lunch the wind picked up enough for the contractor to come and combine some barley. Left Kev carting in while I baled up the 20 acres of oat straw from the weekend. By tonight that was 22 acres of barley cut,only 45 acres to go...
